7-7:30 PM TUESDAYS, MAR 1-APR 5 IN A CLASSROOM AT DERRY CHURCH
Do you know a student in second, third or fourth grade who loves music? Claire Folts, a music teacher who grew up at Derry Church, is offering six classes that will explore diverse music of the world. Participants will explore Muslim Culture, African American Culture, Puerto Rican Culture, and Guyanese Culture. We will listen to music; make music by singing and playing instruments; and discuss the historical, political, and cultural background of the music to help us understand, appreciate, and accept differences between diverse religious, ethnic, and geographic cultures.
This course has been created by Claire as her final project for her Master’s in Music Education with a Kodaly Emphasis. Participants will not only have a unique musical experience, but will be helping a church member complete her Master’s Degree! For more information and to sign up, contact Claire Folts.
