May 12: The Life and Philosophy of Mr. Rogers led by Shawn Gray

May 19:  Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery led by Rev. Irvin Porter.
Rev. Porter joined us on January 14 to talk about the Doctrine of Discovery and how it legitimized the taking of lands of Indigenous Peoples by European settler colonists in the name of Christ. He will be talking about steps churches are taking to address and repair the damage done by the Doctrine of Discovery and settler colonialism toward Indigenous Peoples as well as how to be an inclusive church. Rev. Irvin Porter serves as the Associate for Native American Intercultural Congregational Support in Racial Equity and Women’s Intercultural Ministries of the Presbyterian Mission Agency. He also serves as a part-time pastor at Church of the Indian Fellowship in Tacoma, Washington.
